6 Facts and Myths about IVF You’ll Want to Know!

Here at GlobalIVF, we know how scary it can be to deal with all the in’s and out’s of using a surrogate. Whether you find one through Agency for Solutions or choose to travel abroad, here are some common misconceptions we’d like to address:

1. There Will be an Issue of Genetics: With a gestational surrogacy arrangement, the embryos are created with either the intended mother’s eggs or an egg donor – not those of the surrogate. There is never a question of who the baby belongs to. It will be yours and only yours.

2. Surrogacy or Egg Donation is Out of My Price Range: Not everyone who uses a surrogate or does egg donation is wealthy. People of all economic backgrounds choose this route. There are some things you can’t put a price on and family is one of them. Pricing is often available to make it more affordable for you, too, so look into your options!

3. Surrogates Will Try to Keep My Baby: This isn’t true. Good surrogacy agencies, like GlobalIVF will work attorneys who specialize in reproductive law to ensure everything is in place for the intended parents.

4. The Surrogate or Egg Donor Won’t Be Healthy: All surrogates and egg donors undergo extensive health examinations in order to donate eggs or carry a baby for you. As a rule, surrogate mothers feel a great responsibility in taking care of your baby. Had they not, they would not have signed up for the job in the first place.

5. The Surrogate or Egg Donor is Poor: Many surrogates and egg donors have a full-time career, are financially stable and often have a partner who has a secure, well-paid job, too. If there is any indication that a candidate is motivated by money they will be dismissed from our agency.

6. Relatives or Friends Make the Best Surrogate Mothers: The opposite is true. With emotions running high over infertility, often it’s best to work with someone whose only tie to you genetically is the umbilical cord. This might mean traveling out of the country where you can high quality services for less than what you might pay in the U.S..
