I had heard things about surrogacy in India a few years ago but thought “not for me”. The reason, purely financial. We still don’t have much money BUT we will find finances somehow!
Fast forward to October ’13, we’re on holiday in Holland. My husband Pete brought his work laptop. I was browsing news events one evening in the chalet in Wassaner and saw an article on surrogacy in India. This was my eureka moment. I was hooked.
I had suffered 6 miscarriages in 3 years and knew I couldn’t carry a pregnancy past circa 9 weeks. We have 4 frozen embryos in Isida clinic, Kiev, Ukraine. They are being transported to Rotunda clinic, Mumbai, India, very soon! Kynisi courier will undertake this. Talking to Lauri from Global IVF was so helpful in discussing all my options and narrowing down which countries and clinics would be the best fit for me. Akshanka clinic seemed good too, this clinic featured on Oprah some time back.
There’s some red tape, boxes to tick before our embryos are on their way. Then I get the surrogate’s details – yeah! Am so excited about that. How do you contain yourself waiting for the outcome of transfer? Anyway I must take one step at a time.
My daughter Ella, age 12, and I hope to travel to India to pick baby up (please God). She loves to talk about our journey. This morning she suggested Ruby as a name for a little girl, very apt for a precious jewel.
I’ll check in next week to let you know developments.
