I have contacted several clinics in the Czech Republic regarding the upper age limit for egg donor recipient. There was a law passed in April 2012, which affected the upper age limit foe egg donor recipient. However, the clinics have responded with different age limits, some 49, some over 50 as long as cycle is done before the age of 49. I am concerned that some clinics may just be trying to get business, but may not be able to follow through with the frozen cycle past a certain age. Do you have any information on this? We have contacted a clinic in Kiev that has an Embryoscope that will treat beyond the age of 49 – however, there has been some bad press about Kiev clinics on some forums – certainly my husband thinks that the photos of the physicians on the website resemble that of the KJB. So if you have any information on the Czech Republic law and also on any feedback from Kiev – with use of the embryoscope, I would be grateful.

We visited several clinics in the Czech Republic this past January and all of them were talking about the law that was about to be passed that would restrict the age of the Intended Mother to 50. I know that some of them were more willing to ‘play’ with that date – but you’re right, I would not count on being able to do a frozen cycle if the fresh doesn’t work (which is what I assume you’re saying?) if you will be over the age of 50 when that would happen.
We have heard wonderful things about experiences in CR — and we were quite impressed with the clinics that we met with. One that stood out to us was Prague Fertility Center (the embryologist there was the one who created Primovision – see their article on global ivf http://www.globalivf.com/articles_show.php?id=143&cid= ) Primovision is just like embryoscope. We were very impressed with their success rates, their communication with clients, their doctors, etc…
I do think you will have to check with the clinics and ask them specifically about their guidelines for age cutoff…
If you want to speak with someone who is very very familiar with travelling to the Czech Republic for cycles (she went herself and helps coordinate hundreds of cycles for other travelling patients) contact Sue Taylor at firstname.lastname@example.org
She is very knowledgeable and probably knows more about the age cutoffs…

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my query, and for mentioning Prague Fertility Centre.
My husband and I have been on an IVF journey for 3 years now. The process of IVF has led me to become very ‘research orientated’, making sure ‘I know’ what the best treatments are before arriving at clinics! What can I say…I have been surfing the web and came up with Global IVF which has provided a wealth of information, so thank you.
