Recommendation for UK to Extend Free IVF Treatments

A powerful health advisory agency recommended new guidelines including extending free IVF treatments on NHS to same-sex couples and women ages 39-42, extending the current required age limit of under 40…recommendations likely to be followed by many of the U.K.’s fertility clinics. The new guidelines also call for covered IVF treatments for HIV+ citizens and patients who wish to preserve their fertility before facing cancer treatment.

Gedis Grudzinskas, emeritus professor of obstetrics and gynaecology at Barts and the Royal London Hospital, said that while the new guidance reflects ‘social changes’ there were questions over whether NHS trusts could afford it.”
