Are U.S. Laws Keeping up with Fertility Treatments Technologies?

Fertility Treatments Technologies:

Ellie Lavi, an American citizen living in Israel, was thrilled after giving birth to twins girls….But she never expected the difficulties in granting them American citizenship.  Lavi’s twins were conceived through IVF, and she used donor eggs and sperm from an Israeli fertility clinic.  Because Lavi cannot prove that either of the donors were American citizens, the U.S. State Department is refusing the girls U.S. citizenship.  Lavi expresses her valid frustration that even though she “carried them for nine months…they can’t be American,’’ adding, “U.S. policy is not keeping up with the technology.”
