Although the doctor has encouraged us to take as much time as we need, we feel ready to move forward, once more, on our journey. We are very lucky have a wonderful new surrogate who has already been prepped, screened, and started on medications for another couple who fell through. We told the clinic that we are ready to continue on our journey.
For our second transfer, the doctor suggested we transfer more embryos than my partner and I were expecting. In fact, our initial reaction was, “Whoa, we are not comfortable with that!” The doctor was able to explain his thought process—half of our embryos were not in very good condition. In Panama, we have seen how certain aspects of the procedures are decided based on personal and ethical preferences. In our experience, the staff was most focused on helping people who would not otherwise have a family…and would sometimes be a little more aggressive. Hoping for the best!
