This morning NBC’s the Today Show covered the recent criminal case surrounding Theresa Erickson, a lawyer who specializes in reproductive law. The Today Show provided background on Erickson’s current case, and featured an interview with Heather—one of the surrogates flown by Erickson to a fertility clinic in Ukraine. The Today Show called upon Agency for Surrogacy Solutions & Global IVF’s Kathryn Kaycoff-Manos to offer her surrogacy expertise. Kathryn reminds us that there are many fertility professionals out there who offer good, honest services to those who need assistance. As reported by NBC this morning, each year about 1400 American couples work with surrogate mothers to help bring their child/ren into the world. Although, as Kathryn said, we are upset and saddened by this incident, we cannot let the case surrounding Theresa Erickson take away from the many healthy, happy babies who are lawfully brought into the world each year to eagerly awaiting loving parents through surrogacy.
